Turin: classic with modern facets

Turin has always played a fundamental role in Italian and European history.

In this city the automotive and electrical industry, telecommunications, aeronautics, cinema, radio and television have developed.

Turin is still developing in the wake of its noble tradition, projecting towards the new millennium with already behind the organization of the 2006 Winter Olympics.

The historic center is full of monuments that recall the more than two thousand years of history: the Porte Palatine of the Roman Augusta Taurinorum, the fifteenth-century Cathedral of San Giovanni that houses the Holy Shroud, the Baroque Church of San Lorenzo, the Royal Palace of Savoy, the Basilica di Superga, the Mole Antonelliana (one of the highest masonry buildings in Europe), the Egyptian Museum, second only to that of Cairo in Egypt.

Turin boasts a European record for the beauty and vastness of its parks: from the central Royal Gardens, to the park around the Hunting Palace of Stupinigi, to the park of the Mandria, which contains the Royal Palace of Venaria, and the whole green area along the banks of the Po.

A wonderful European city, which develops through kilometers of porticoes, tree-lined avenues, galleries and where it is possible to stay inside ancient perfectly preserved cafés and taste delicacies based on chocolate gianduja, of which Turin is the capital.
