turin to discover

between history, nature and culture

Turin, Italy’s first capital, has always played a central role in Italian and European history. Cradle of the automotive and electrical industry, telecommunications, aeronautics and cinema, the city has also been a protagonist in the development of radio and television. A city that looks to the future without forgetting its roots, as evidenced by the organization of the 2006 Winter Olympics, which consolidated its international profile.

As you stroll through the historic center of Turin, you can admire more than 2,000 years of history: from the ancient Palatine Gates of Roman times to the Cathedral of San Giovanni, which houses the Holy Shroud; from the Baroque Church of San Lorenzo to the majestic Royal Palace of the Savoy family; and all the way to the famous Mole Antonelliana, symbol of the city and one of the tallest masonry buildings in Europe. Also not to be missed is a visit to the Egyptian Museum, the second most important in the world after Cairo.

Turin is also one of the greenest cities in Europe. The Royal Gardens, the park of the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi, the Mandria Park with the sumptuous Reggia di Venaria Reale, and the entire area along the Po River offer ample space to relax and immerse oneself in nature.

The charm of Turin can also be discovered by walking through its elegant arcades, tree-lined avenues and refined historic galleries. Here, among old cafes and pastry shops of old times, you can taste the typical specialties of Turin tradition, such as the famous gianduja chocolate, of which Turin is the undisputed capital.
