The stages of our history
1880
The building in which Hotel Genova is located was built in the last decades of the 1800s, as was the entire area surrounding Porta Nuova Station.
1920
The original activity was as an inn with about 20 rooms for travelers heading to Genoa. Hence the original name “Hotel Stazione e Genova.”
1940-45
During World War II the hotel was occupied by the Germans.
On January 24, 1944, Partisans detonated four bombs near the entrance procuring the death of the hotel managers. In retaliation, German soldiers stopped some passersby and shot them in the building’s courtyard.
1968
The hotel underwent profound transformations, from the lobby to the rooms, which were provided with all the amenities required by the changing needs of the customers. The accommodation capacity increased to about 40 rooms.
1980
During these years, the first elevator was put in and the hotel joined the Best Western hotel chain.
1990
The hotel continued to evolve and the number of rooms increased to 59. Due to business needs, the historical name was converted to the more current “Hotel Genova e Stazione.”
2001
A major new renovation changed the style of the hotel, the shape of the lobby and the number of rooms, which increased to 78, equipped with every comfort. The hotel featured Meeting Rooms, Breakfast Rooms, Bar Room and three elevators.
2013
The number of rooms increases to 83, and SPA H14, a Fitness & Wellness center equipped with Technogym equipment, Relaxation Room, Whirlpool, Turkish Bath, Sauna, Emotional Shower, Salt Cave and Aesthetics booths, is opened.
2015-16
The number of rooms reaches 92, the hotel acquires the “Best Western Plus” brand and gains the 4-star category.
Today
Attention to continuous renewal goes hand in hand with the idea of authentic hospitality, which over the years has won the hearts of many affectionate customers who have become part of the hotel’s history and family management.
